10 Best Movies with Capitalist Themes
2. Trading Places
Two billionaires make a bet about whether success is in one’s blood or if it is a matter of environment. They make a bet and decide to ruin one of their employee’s lives and give his job to a street hustler in order to test their theories. The two old men have the tables turned on them when the two realize the game being played on them and seek to out maneuver them on a business venture concerning oranges. As they are successful, the movie proves that hard work and ingenuity are what make success, and that two common men were able to outsmart and one up the business tycoons. The movie shows the virtues of capitalism and the nastiness of elitism. Men are not born with success in their blood, it is their environment which effects them the most—but it is their will which can change their environment.
