5. Breaking Failures

Nearly 3 million GM vehicles have been recalled for various breaking issues. For 2.4 million of those recalls this meant brake lights and additional safety features would fail to work. As scary as that sounds, it was worse for the 144,000 Chevy Malibu’s which would lose hydraulic breaking. While breaking in the Malibu wasn’t totally lost, it became much harder to break and would require much greater distance to stop. Of course, driver never had warning before the hydraulic brakes would fail.

Models affected: 2004-2012 Chevrolet Malibu, 2004-2007 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx, 2005-2007 Pontiac G6, 2007-2010 Saturn Aura, 2014 Chevrolet Malibu
