2. Regimentation

A big part of successfully reaching your goals and keeping your life heading in the direction you want is regimentation. The more regimented you are, the more you will succeed at the tasks you undertake. This means not only getting a good night’s sleep on a regular schedule, it also means keeping yourself on task. Schedule your day to ensure you are maximizing your time. Even leisure should be regimented; if you know you intend on watching TV or reading that day, make time for it in your schedule. If you want to play video games, schedule it. You don’t need to write down an actual schedule, just mentally allot yourself only so much time for these activities. I view this time as a reward of sorts. I say if I accomplish my goals I can spend two hours watching TV that evening. In that moment I may want to watch more TV, but later I will inevitably feel like my time was not optimized that day. At the end of the day, I am much more satisfied when I have accomplished my goals and used my time productively. There are only so many hours in a day, make them count.
