4. Enzo Anselmo Ferrari 1898-1988

Enzo AnselmoFerrari Cavaliere di Gran Croce OMRI (Italian honors) was an Italian motor racing legend, entrepreneur, and founder of one of the greatest sports car manufacturers ever. He was widely known as “ilCommendatore” or “il Drake”. In his final years he was often referred to as “l’Ingegnere” or “il Grande Vecchio (the Old Man).” His list of honors and aliases should give you an idea of how respected this man was among Italians and auto enthusiasts the world over. In 1929, Ferrari founded the Scuderia Ferrari race team for Alpha Romeo. In 1939, he began designing his own race car. In 1947 Ferrari debuted as its own marque, and the sports car world has never been the same.
