10 Countries That Have No Room To Talk Trash
7. Venezuela
Venezuela has been accusing the US of taking a “unilateral and aggressive measure” by imposing sanctions on people in President Maduro’s administration who are believed to have taken part in human rights abuses. The Venezuelan president demands that “the U.S. government immediately cease hostile actions against Venezuelan people and democracy” and “retract its libelous and defamatory statements and actions against the honorable Venezuelan officials who have just obeyed our laws and our constitution.”
The truth is, their government’s insane economic policies have caused much more suffering for the Venezuelan people than any US sanctions ever could. The situation with the human rights in the country is also abhorrent. The opposition members are routinely vilified, persecuted, and even killed. The past presidential elections have also been rigged to make sure the Chavistas stayed in power after the dictator’s death.
The Venezuelan government has been well-known for its inflammatory anti-American rhetoric ever since the late authoritarian leader of the country, Hugo Chavez, came to power, but the anti-US propaganda hasn’t stopped with the new president in charge.
The U.S. and Venezuela have been at odds over the South American nation’s jailing of opposition leaders, using violence to quell protests and Maduro’s claim that the U.S. is attempting to destabilize his regime.
