7. Focus on customer service

Successful entrepreneurs quickly learn that the most important task they have is not finding new customers (assuming that they already have some) but keeping those that they have happy. “What would you do differently,” they are often asked, “if 100% of your future business had to come from existing customers?” When confronted with this question, they often realize that they are not doing nearly enough to ensure that their existing customers constantly have their expectations exceeded. New customer acquisition, billing, accounting, and other administrative tasks, while important, should never be a company’s top priorities. Employees have just one customer – their employer – so keeping that customer happy must be the employee’s top priority, at least while they are on the clock.
