8. Get paid what you’re worth

Entrepreneurs don’t start their businesses looking for just enough money to cover their bills, and maybe a little bit more. Unfortunately, though, many employees do just that. As some people put it, employees often do just enough that they won’t get fired and employers pay them just enough so that they don’t quit. That’s a terrible way to live, but fortunately it’s not necessary to start a business to get out of that trap. Employees seeking to get more out of their jobs, both in terms of personal growth and income, would do well to sit down with their employers and work out a way that they can get paid, at least in part, based on their value to the company. This may be scary to some, but to those willing to put in the work, it can be both empowering and profitable.
