Tax

Last but by no means least, a special case as there has been no conviction, Lois Lerner was the former head of the “tax exempt” division of the IRS. In May of 2013, Lois Lerner apologized for “absolutely inappropriate” actions taken by her department concerning the targeting of certain political groups applying for tax exempt status. While she was apparently helping to weaponize the taxing authority, Lois Lerner collected more than $100,000 in “retention bonuses” over 3 years in addition to her $170,000 salary because her superiors, who have since been fired, just could not stand to lose her.  After nearly a year on administrative leave, Lois Lerner retired and began collecting a federal employee retirement that could bring her more than $100,000 a year and nearly a $4,000,000 lifetime payout.

These cases are just ten among what is surely hundreds, if not thousands, of egregious examples of greedy low lives who put their avarice before anything or anyone else. These people are the reason so many have so little faith in the institutions that supposedly  promote civilization and none of us should accept or excuse their failings.
