6. They Have Too Much Political Pull

Because they receive a ton of money in dues, unions have sizable bank accounts for the purpose of lobbying for influence. They give money to political parties and candidates who are going to support giving their union better wages, benefits, or more superiority in whatever market they operate in. In many states, you have no choice whether or not to join a union. You also have no say in how that union uses your dues. Chances are they will use it to contribute to campaigns that advocate more laws that benefit unions (or at least oppose reforms). Whether or not you agree with that candidate, you are helping to get them elected. And once those candidates are elected, they remember who got them there. Unions were some of the biggest money players of the 2014 midterms.
