The Road to Serfdom by Friedrich von Hayek

Hayek, an Austrian economists and philosopher, left his home to live in Britain during the rise of National Socialism. Hayek set out to explain how a once great nation like Germany had willfully transformed itself into a nation of autocrats and serfs. Hayek examines what makes people embrace authoritarianism.
