“You can only drink 30 or 40 glasses of beer a day, no matter how rich you are.” –Adolphus Busch

Eberhard Anheuser was a German born soap maker and chandler. After moving to America, he was the main creditor for the Bavarian Brewery Company, which had considerable struggles. Anheuser became CEO and changed the name to Eberhard Anheuser and Company. His fortune was changed when his daughter Lilly married Adolphus Busch, a brewery supply salesman. The two men combined their efforts to form the now famous Anheuser-Busch Company. Busch became the first American brewer to use pasteurization to preserve the beer’s freshness. The company produced several varieties of beer, most famously Budweiser, the self-proclaimed King of Beers. Throughout its history, save for prohibition, Anheuser-Busch has dominated the domestic beer market in America. Their subsidiary, The Busch Entertainment Corporation, owned and operated 13 theme parks until 1999, including the famed Busch Gardens.
