Many will scoff that veterans deserve better than retail jobs. Luckily for those veterans, Wal-Mart has teamed up with ACE Hardware stores to offer $2,000,000 in grants to institutions that demonstrate leadership in providing increased access to and success in higher education for veterans and their families. The ACE/Wal-Mart Success for Veterans Award Grants for $100,000 were awarded to 20 institutions. This allows these programs to grow, extending a hand up to thousands of veterans. While the military provides tuition to veterans to attend post-secondary schools, these grants allow the schools to make those programs better, bigger, and more attractive. In this way Wal-Mart provides veterans with the keys they need to make meaningful changes in their lives.
