9. Africa needs free market development
While the rest of the world is developing, it seems the continent that needs it the most if struggling to keep pace. That’s for several reasons. First, economic aid from international bodies and other countries rarely does any good. It is usually sucked up by governments, and when it’s not it often comes with unnecessary strings, like requiring them to use costly “green” energy. This is place where the worst poverty in the world can be found, we should not be limiting their ability to develop. But we do. We actually try to limit how much oil, coal, and gas they can mine, as well. In the name of environmentalism, Africa is kept from being allowed to fully develop its own resources. The real way to help Africa would be to allow it to develop, as the rest of the world has. Any aid should be tied to liberal economic reforms with the goal of encouraging economic activity and growth.
