4. It Will Benefit the Economies of Both Countries Immensely

Economically, our countries are already one another’s biggest investors, customers, and suppliers. Canada ships more oil to the United States than any other country, roughly 2.5 million barrels a day (out of the total consumed of 19.4 million barrels daily), and is an important source of electrical power, uranium, metals, minerals, natural gas, and automobiles. In return, Canadians buy more U.S. products than the entire EU.

But the free flow of capital and human resources will increase our trade even more, and make the North American Union an unsurpassed global powerhouse. US corporations will increase their ownership of Canadian assets, and Canadian corporations will increase their investment in the United States. The Americans will be free to live and work in Canada as long as they like, and Canadians will have unrestricted access to the huge US labor market, without work permits or greencards to worry about.
