5. Each Country Has What the Other Needs

There are no persuasive arguments against the North American Union. If the European countries, with their long history of mutual invasions, wars, and ethnic cleansings, were able to put aside their differences and fierce nationalism, and form the EU, why can’t the US and Canada, with their long period of peace and common culture and heritage, do the same?

If the United States and Canada were corporations, or European states, they would have merged a long time ago. Each has what the other needs: The United States has capital, manpower, technology, and the world’s strongest military; Canada has enormous reserves of undeveloped resources, and ownership of a vast and strategically important Arctic region. If we combine American technology and labor markets with Canadian brainpower and natural resources, we will truly become invincible.
