Facebook CEO and Harvard dropout Mark Zuckerberg has changed the way we communicate, not only online but in other areas of our life. The social network platform that began in a dorm room in 2004 has arguably eliminated the need for high school yearbooks, greeting cards and reunions. It’s a website that’s now used by more than a billion million people around the world.
Facebook has affected the social life and activity of people in various ways. With its availability on many mobile devices, Facebook allows users to continuously stay in touch with friends, relatives and other acquaintances wherever they are in the world, as long as there is access to the Internet. It can also unite people with common interests and/or beliefs through groups and other pages, and has been known to reunite lost family members and friends because of the widespread reach of its network.
Zuckerberg is planning a “multi-app strategy” for new communication patterns to emerge. Another major project for Facebook is to revolutionize the search engine through Graph Search. Yet another one of his goals is to reach everyone on earth, or at least five billion people, in order to have a full global impact.
