Peter Thiel is an American entrepreneur, hedge fund manager, and venture capitalist. Thiel is known as the cofounder and former CEO of PayPal, the only payment giant that revolutionized online shopping and money transfers. He was also the first outside investor in Facebook, the social media site which now has over 1 billion users. He is co-founder and investment committee chair of Mithril Capital Management, co-founder and chairman of Valar Ventures, serves as president of Clarium Capital; a global macro hedge fund with $700 million in assets under management, and is a managing partner in Founders Fund, a venture capital fund with $2 billion in assets. As if that wasn’t enough, he is the co-founder and chairman of Palantir, a software development company. He was number 4 on Forbes’s Midas List in 2014, his net worth being $2.2 billion.
