4. Jobs

Former New Mexico Governor and 2012 presidential candidate Gary Johnson recently made headlines by taking the leading position at a Nevada based start-up which plans on selling recreational and medical marijuana. Johnson, who built a successful construction company in New Mexico prior to entering politics, sees the bigger picture. Marijuana is not only the next drug to be legalized, it is an emerging consumer market. One which will create thousands, if not millions of jobs. Production, transportation, distribution, and sales of marijuana will all require staffed personnel. And there is plenty of profit to go around, ensuring a competitive market, lots of jobs, plenty of revenue.

Legalization will also spur production of hemp, which can be used as a textile, fiber, or oil. Hemp oil may even be used as fuel. An entire industry of hemp production will be let lose, as hemp (a relative of the cannabis plant we all know as marijuana) growing is now restricted due to its close resemblance to pot.
