7. The LEGO movie

This toy-themed animated movie was genius. Many people interpreted the film as anti-business because the villain (voiced by Will Ferrell) is President Business. But this story serves as the perfect model between real capitalism and a merger of corporate power and the state. The bad guy hates free expression, creativity, and wants to centrally plan how everything is built and how everyone acts, even devising a diabolical plan to glue everyone and everything in Lego land in place. The heroes are the master builders (or the entrepreneurs!) who use whatever resources they have to build whatever is needed for that situation. It is their world of spontaneous order and free expression where building suits the desires of the people, not the edict of central planners. The planners had produced a life so void of individuality and uniqueness, that propaganda was needed to convince the people they were happy. It’s only through the actions of the rebels—those who dare to build what wasn’t planned, that the plot to glue everyone in place is foiled.
