From the religious world, we have Cardinal Sean Brady. The former “Primate of All Ireland.” Cardinal Brady helped a child rapist, who was eventually convicted of 75 charges of indecency and sexual abuse of boys and girls over a thirty year span, to cover his crimes. His punishment? One year of “gardening leave” until retiring with a full pension at 75 as is a custom for Cardinals. Numbers can be hard to nail down, but published reports for Cardinal O’Malley in Boston showed a plan with an estimated total future obligation of over $400,000.
