From the New York Port Authority Police department, Lieutenant William Burns. Lt. Burns was arrested in 2007 for having pornography on his Port Authority computer. Further investigation revealed the theft of more than $4,000 in Port Authority toll and hotel vouchers. In a deal described as “disgusting” by a Port Authority anti-corruption investigator, not only did Lt. Burns avoid any jail time, he was allowed to resign and eventually ended up with a tax free, post-traumatic stress disorder disability pension worth an estimated $150,000 a year. James Tuttle, the Lieutenant’s lawyer blamed the Lieutenant Burns’ bad behavior on the things that happened to him on September 11, 2001, and the court bought it, because its not the court’s money.
