8. Privatize Social Security
Polls have shown 2/3 of Americans support personalizing social security, while only 1/3 support privatizing it. When advocating for a personally managed Social Security system, say that you are advocating for a personally managed Social Security system! The term privatize sounds like some private, secret entity will be controlling the accounts. A personalized Social Security account sounds like individuals will have more control and ownership over their accounts, which is true. People have paid a lot of money into this system, and many are dependent on it being there for them. Privatization sounds too radical to many, but personalization does not. Also, avoid the term entitlements, even though they have paid into the system so they are entitled the money, the term entitlement has too many negative connotations.
