10 Reasons to Oppose Minimum Wages
10. It leaves no space on the elevator
Every second wasted on worrying how much the cashier at the mini-mart (who is more than likely making over the minimum wage anyway) makes, is time taken away from real opportunities and actual problems. The minimum wage will not fix the “crumbling infrastructure”, it will not develop the hydrogen automobile or build the space elevator I’ve been waiting on since the 1980’s. Yes, working for the minimum wage sucks. It usually is horrible enough that it drives people to improve their skills and develop their talents so they do not have to continue to do it. And that the point, instead of encouraging people to better themselves, we are saying that society owes them a hand up. By limiting wages, we are limiting space on the proverbial elevator to a higher standard of living. We are saying that only people who can produce a value equal to or above $15 an hour may ride that elevator. And without people riding that proverbial elevator, I will never get to enjoy my space elevator.
