5.Margins are margins

Every business has them. They are the difference between providing employment to others who may then provide for themselves and their families, and chaining the doors shut because you just cannot do better than break even. A federal, state, or local authority may be able to mandate a higher minimum wage, but it cannot mandate a commensurate increase in the profits any enterprise earns. This means cost increases to the consumer, loss of previously mentioned benefits or sending the employees with the least experience and talent to the unemployment line. Whatever it takes to make margins fit, either that or it’s time to put the fry-o-lator on eBay and send everyone home.
