Iran has been in the habit of chanting “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” ever since the Islamic Revolution in 1979. The theocratic regime is especially loathing the “Zionist occupation of Palestine,” as the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinian territories is known over there. Iran is also highly critical of the US foreign policy and Western democracy, often accusing “the Great Satan” of racism and harboring anti-Muslim sentiments.
The truth is, Iran is one of the most oppressive countries on earth and has absolutely no right to call the kettle black. The Iranian government’s horrible treatment of its ethnic and religious minorities, as well as its oppression of women, presents a very dark picture of the human rights situation in the country.
