4. But you will make mistakes

Entrepreneurs know that making mistakes is just part of making progress. In fact, their goal is to fail quickly, learn from their mistakes, and try again. Employees often limit themselves with the phrase, “That’s not my job,” when they should instead set expectations properly. When an employee sets unrealistic expectations with an employer, either during an interview or during employment, he runs the risk of getting himself – and perhaps even the company – into trouble. Employees should let employers know when they are asked to do something that’s new to them but set about doing it anyway. Provided that the employer’s expectations are set properly, they are likely to be understanding of mistakes and see projects as opportunities to grow the abilities of valued employees.
