Ray Kroc was an American businessman and fast food pioneer. The kitchen wares salesman joined McDonald’s in 1954. Once he had bought out the McDonald brothers, he took their concept of a limited menu, quick service, and low prices nationwide. In doing so he created the fast food industry. Not only did McDonald’s revolutionize food service, as several other chains quickly formed to compete, it made food available for low prices, which is a large reason for it immediate success. He amassed a fortune, purchasing the Major Baseball Team, the San Diego Padres in 1974, which he owned till his death in 1984. Today McDonald’s in an international giant and a leading contributor to charity through vehicle like the Ronald McDonald Foundation.
