2. You’re not certain what you want to do

Are you sure you know what you want to do? If you said no, stop right now, the rest of this list isn’t necessary because you shouldn’t be going to college. If you do know, how long have you known for? Are you certain? People warn that if you wait to go school you’ll never go back. That presumes you’ll be too lazy or life will be too busy for you to do so in just a few years. But how are you to know that when you’re done with school in 4-8 years that you’ll still want to do what you’ve now invested time and considerable amounts of money into? It’s important to be sure before you waste years of your life and potentially indebt yourself. Not only should you be sure of what you want to do, but you should have an idea of the starting pay and current employment availability in whatever field you wish to enter. Many experts are warning against law school, for example, because there are such a disproportionate amount of lawyers to jobs available.
