6. Elizabeth Warren on Audit the Fed
Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who built a name for herself by campaigning against Wall Street and big banks, seemed a potential ally for Sen. Rand Paul in his efforts to audit America’s national bank. The institution is one of the most secretive and arguably the most powerful on the planet, controlling the entire country’s money supply. It would seem the most likely place to start reining in the kind of crony capitalism that she claims to oppose, while also potentially discouraging the hidden tax of inflation that has decimated the savings of average Americans. Unfortunately, Sen. Warren knows that reining in the Fed would also mean reining in out of control federal spending. When push comes to shove, she’s for the banking system’s status quo.
