3. It hasn’t worked

Though it may be strange, I make a hobby out of watching old videos of economists discussing minimum wage policy,.I notice, aside from some very nifty fashion choices, NOTHING HAS REALLY CHANGED. The dollar amount has certainly fluctuated, but the buying power of those dollars does not appear to have improved since Milton Friedman was talking about a “$2.50 minimum wage” in the early Seventies. Look around you, how many people do you know that actually live on just the minimum wage? How long has it been since you did it? It’s not that I don’t care, it’s that I don’t believe folks like Harry Reid or Mitch McConnell have any idea about what it means to be concerned about not just wages, but how much you can actually buy with a dollar.
